Five short conversations that build the skills we teach in class, one dinner at a time.

Five short conversations that build the skills we teach in class, one dinner at a time.

The skills we teach in Conflict Resolution grow fastest at home. These five conversations take ten minutes each and work best over a meal.

The five conversations

Ask about a disagreement they saw this week and how it ended. Ask what they would change about one house rule, and why. Ask who they think listens well, and what that person does differently.

Then two harder ones: a time they changed their mind, and a time they wish they had said no. Listen more than you talk. The goal is practice, not answers.

Why it works

Teenagers learn to handle conflict by watching how adults handle it. A calm conversation about a small thing is rehearsal for the big ones.
